Following the success of its Flagship Fund in 2012, the Trust was delighted to be able to offer it again this year, with the successful applicant being Treverbyn Community Hall in Stenalees.
The Trust has granted £250,000 to the project, which involves a major refurbishment and also a new extension to a valuable community asset.
Jenny Cant, Treverbyn resident and Chair of Treverbyn Together enthused "We are absolutely delighted that SITA Cornwall Trust have given our application their support. Our plans for this hall are not the aspirations of just a few well- meaning people, they genuinely reflect the need across the community. The need for improving our hall is reflected in the increasing number of people coming together to support the hall's change. Our committee is passionate and our volunteer base grows each week, as does the number of users."
During the glorious Cornish Summer this year, the Board of SITA Cornwall Trust was pleased to attend the opening of the new Lanner Silver Band Room, which received £210,000 as the successful Flagship applicant in 2012. The building was completed on time and significantly under budget owing to the enormous support of the members who's contribution reduced the overall build cost substantially. The Trust is delighted with the finished result, which will provide fantastic facilities, both for the band and the wider community for many years to come.
